I was handed a camera at family parties before I knew what I was doing with one.

It wasn't until college that I took it seriously — and even then, it took a failed photography class to wake me up. I retook it, had more fun than I expected, and kept going. I was on track to be an engineer. Then one semester I had three midterms — two engineering, one photo project. I realized I cared more about the photo project than both of the others combined. I failed those midterms. The next day I switched majors.

I never looked back.

The moment I knew I was doing something real was in a critique near the end of school. I made an image about wrath — violent, intentional, uncomfortable. It split the room in half. Half the class loved it, half hated it. My professor looked at it and said something I've never forgotten: "I want to hate this image, but it's beautiful."

That's what I'm still chasing on every shoot — work that makes people feel something strong enough to have an opinion.

I'm a filmmaker and photographer who directs, shoots, and edits. I'm obsessed with food, craft beer, cocktails, travel, and Olympic weightlifting. I'm a movie buff who thinks about visual storytelling the way other people think about sports stats.

That combination of obsessions shows up in everything I make.
